But take these in limited amounts if you are watching your weight.


4. Ginger


Ginger is a useful food product with medicinal properties. It keeps your body warm with high metabolism. It is good for sore throat, flu, cold and other illnesses. It is also taken with honey to cure cold, cough and flu thereby building a strong immune system.

 

5. Garlic


The unusual properties of garlic make it a great medicinal herb that is grown in the US and thus available easily. It also makes a great taste enhancer in curries. Garlic produces a compound called allicin when it is crushed or chewed raw. Allicin has antibiotic properties and helps the body in fighting cold and flu. You can also make garlic tea for a sore throat.
