Beauty Foods: Your Guide To Achieving Beauty, Naturally

Beauty Foods: Your Guide To Achieving Beauty, Naturally

Gone are the days when we believed that makeup and fitness were the only things that affected how we looked. The 21st century is here and we ladies are armed with knowledge. If you didn’t know yet, there are foods which enhance your beauty and looks. Let’s look at the top 7 items of ‘beauty foods’.

1. Yogurt

The doctors recommend it, the beauty experts recommend it and most importantly, it has got the stamp of approval from my dear grandma, who by the way is in her eighties and looks a decade younger. Yogurt has active bacterial cultures. As wrong as this sounds, it is the best natural digestive aid that you can have. An unhealthy digestive track may lead to acne, pimple and eczema, all of which can be possibly addressed by yogurt. If you find plain yogurt boring, try adding fruits like banana or apple to it. But don’t add heaps of sugar – they don’t serve the cause, ladies.

2. Salmon

A fresh cut of salmon is vibrant, healthy and a prime source of Omega 3. This is what most of us know. But what we don’t know is that such oily fish are also known to contain a superb and powerful antioxidant, Coenzyme Q10. It protects your skin from damage and gives it a natural firmness.

3. Tomatoes

Apart from Vitamin A, C and E, these red beauties also have a high content of lycopene. For those of you who haven’t heard of lycopene, it is a natural antioxidant which protects your skin from sun damage. Call it your very own natural sunscreen.

4. Dark Green Veggies

They’re dark, they’re green and they’re leafy. Dark greens like spinach, broccoli and other traditional veggies that your mom always put on your plate contain essential anti-aging and anti-toxic properties. They are also good for your hair, skin and hormonal balance. How good is that? I can understand that these veggies are dull and boring. But to overcome this, what you can do is load your fridge with different types of sauces and dressing. Experiment, create a delicious salad and eat your way to a healthy and glowing skin.

5. Beans

Rich in vitamins, protein, iron, zinc and potassium, beans are your typical ‘all-rounder’ food which add many beauty elements for a woman. For starters, they are low in cholesterol. So that’s one worry out of the way. Second, they are beefed up with nutrients which promote healthy hair, skin and nails. Who’d have thought that Mr. Bean could do so much?

6. Tea

This takes me back to watching those old ninja movies with my old man when I was a little girl. How those Asians sipped tea from their little cups always amused me. Only recently did I find out that tea is anything but amusing. Tea detoxifies your system, has superb anti-aging elements and also protects against sun damage. No wonder those beautiful Asian ladies have soft and supple skin. Tea is their secret. Do you know what the best part about this beauty food is? You will not have to go out of your way to get your hands on this magic potion. Order a tea instead of a coffee when you make your next trip to the local cafe. Make it a habit and feel the magic.

7. Berries… and other colorful fruits

Berries are loaded, and I mean really loaded with antioxidants. They’re great to keep wrinkles away and protect you from the damaged caused to your skin by free radicals. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, plum, raspberries and much more will silently work to keep your skin soft and smooth. They’re the best way to give your skin a natural radiance. And if finding time to eat berries is an excuse for you, add them to your breakfast cereal for a super healthy and beautiful start to your day, every day!

I have a list of these ‘beauty foods’ on my fridge magnet to remind me what to look out for when I go shopping. I suggest that you jump onto eating these nutrient-rich foods too, to give your skin, hair, nails and overall health a spark from within.
