Steve Jobs needs no introduction. He was the pioneer in the field of technology. Apart from that, he also evoked great passion in his speeches and interviews. So we have come up with a list of lessons that Steve Jobs has taught us throughout his short-spanned life.

1. Love what you do

This is the most important thing that Steve Jobs taught all of us. If you don’t love your work, there’s no chance that you can ever succeed in life. You have to be passionate about what you do in your life. Thus, we see that whatever Jobs did in his life was driven by passion and love towards his work.

2. Don’t live someone else’s life

This is as simple as living your life the way you want it. It’s about shaping your life around what’s important to you; your wishes, dreams, opinions, your family and work. But if you are constantly doing what others want you to do, in Steve Jobs’ words you will just be “trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.”

3. Do something worthy and great

You should have the power, the drive to do something great. You are born with various abilities which you can use to your benefit. Don’t think what others would think if you do that or go there. Do something that will make people stand up and notice you.

4. Have full faith in what you do

If you’re among those people, who don’t believe in what they are doing, you are heading down the wrong path friends. Whatever work you do, you should believe in yourself and have immense faith in what you do. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?

5. Design is more than veneer

Many people believe and think of design as ‘veneer’ – just an outer covering, a show. But Jobs believed it to be more than just that. He thought that “nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”

6. Stay hungry, stay foolish

This is one sentence that has and will always stay in our minds eternally. Jobs said this among many great things in his 2005 Stanford speech. Though, it was first published in The Whole Earth Catalog in the 1970s, Jobs told this to the graduating batch at Stanford.

7. Don’t be disheartened by failure

Yes, even if failure knocks at your door once, twice or more. You have to keep your hopes up and think that everything happens for the best; for your best. He cites his example of getting fired from Apple as “the best thing that could have ever happened to me”. Since then, he founded two companies, one of which was bought by Apple.

8. Aim for perfection

Jobs also believed and wanted others to aim for perfection in whatever they do. So if you’re an engineer, teacher or musician, you must yearn to be perfect in your work.

9. Follow your heart and intuition

Jobs explains this by saying that “they somehow know what you want to become”. Even if your heart says insane things to you, you should probably listen to it. When Jobs dropped out of college, he too followed his heart and intuition. Now look where it got him.

10. Listen to the voice at the back of your head

Yes, because it tells you whether you are on the right track or not. Jobs said that don’t do something because your parents told you to do that or you wanted to make money. You should listen to that voice in the back of your head as it will take you on the right path.

If anything, Steve Jobs was an innovator. Someone who likes to play with technology and create products that everyone could enjoy. That’s actually what got him originally fired from Apple, the company he founded.. http://jslim28.blogspot.com/
